“Something 4 Everyone” CD#3

Recorded in my new basement studio in Colorado Springs, which is my favorite place in the house. It’s a small studio but it is very conducive to the way I record. It is also next to a large living area that can be used for full band live recording if I get the chance to do that again. I chose the title based on the total lack of cohesion of this “album” (some of you younger folks may not remember albums. They are vinyl discs that were used to record music in ancient times). There are 14 songs on this record and they vary in style and message. The songs, Who are you?, Comfort in His Arms, Lullaby My Angel, Lonely Disguise, are very spiritual in nature. There is a country tune a few ballads and a few rock style songs. The only other original band member that was available to record on this CD was Pete. In order to complete the project I was assisted on drums by Dan Tyndale and Bill Stein on keyboards. Additional vocal parts by : Jen McClure, Cindy Coe. Kids Vocals: Taylor, Emily, Megan, Emma, Will, Katy, Katie, Abbie, Nickie, Katlyn, Craig, Alex, Aubry, Hannah, Missy. I really appreciate their assistance because without their help it would not have the same impact that I think it has now!

Written by Pete Cassani and I just enjoy listening to the tune. His guitar picking and lyrics add a lot to the CD and highlight Pete’s softer side. Any of you who are Peasants fans (Pete’s Band) know he usually rocks out on his CD’s. He is really easy to record when he performs his softer side.

"Boys and Girls"

It never seizes to amaze me when reports come out and are highlighted in the media to be ground breaking. Men and Women are different! Who decided we needed to pay someone to do a study on this topic. Eating too much causes obesity!! No kidding. This song pokes fun at this whole phenomenon. As my son and daughter say, “Dad your words are backwards, boys don’t like pink”. It’s all in fun!!

"I Think of You"

A simple love ballad I actually wrote about 7 years ago, maybe longer. I have always loved the lyrics in this song. I just never have pushed to record it. Well, here it is.

"Looking For A Man" My first real attempt at a country duet. Nothing ground breaking about the concept but I really like a good duet. I’m just sitting here drinking (I wonder why she’s out looking for a man?) Duh.

"Tell Someone"

I almost recorded this one on the last CD. It just missed the cut but I really like the message and simple country rock feel. I added the addition of group vocals this time that probably would not have been included last time.

."Lonely Disguise"

This is a song about the power of faith in our lives. When I grew up I always felt that I was being watched by God so I had to think about everything I did. I believed in God for a different reason than I do today. I grew up in the Catholic religion which used guilt as a discipline mechanism. I still believe that a certain amount of guilt is good. I also believe you will never be lonely if you believe in God and yourself.

"Everyone has a story I know"

It is a song about how everyone has these deep seated dreams that at some time in life hopefully come to fruition. It has an element of “youth is always wasted on the young” that everyone believes at some time or another. As we get older there is more relevance to how we spend our time and what we see as important. It’s interesting because my kids have asked me why the Teacher, “starts to scream”. It is one of those things that adults understand immediately but the innocence and youth of children has yet to experience. (I hope I am able to capture the emotion in the mix. Of course you will be the judge when it is finished.)

"Who Are You?"

I have had this song for quite a while. It is a church choir song that just asks the simple question, “Who are you that knows who I am?” I feel so close to you but I don’t even know who you are. It’s a test of faith for all of us! It is a real inner reflection between a person and their religion and will have different meanings for different people so I will not attempt to explain mine.

"Everything’s Alright"

It’s my attempt to write a bouncy “girl” pop song about young love. You are definitely better off waiting till you’re in your mid to late 20’s before marriage. There are exceptions but somewhere down the road you are going to feel like you missed out on things. That won’t sit really well when you have a wife or husband and kids. There is so much doubt and angst when you are young and in love. I try to capture that feeling in this song.

"What I have to do"

I wrote this about my guitar player Pete, who is following his passion for music above and beyond everything else in life. There is no denying a passion when you have it so it becomes what you have to do. I love the guitar work in this song. It is written in a minor key and it is a personal favorite of mine. Probably not in the running for mass appeal.

"Ugly"

Pete and I wrote this song and I still laugh every time I hear it! It is not meant to be malicious in any way. It stems from that whole bar scene and the fact that every one gets better looking toward the end of the night even me!! It is completely tongue in cheek. I really think we have all been on both sides of the ugly thing at some time!!

"Lullaby My Angels"

This song was written about a couple that found out that their 2 sons had a rare disease that has no cure. They were taking them for treatment back in North Carolina and the kids had to be in special germ free rooms where their Mom and Dad would accompany them by their bedside. They were going through some experimental and uncomfortable treatment and I could only imagine how they felt sitting by their bedside each night. We need to hug and kiss our children every day and count our blessings. Sing your children a lullaby tonight.

"Don't Waste Time"

Don’t let anyone steal your dreams!!! I know what I do here may be foolish to some, but my dream is to make a living doing something that I love. It may never happen but it will not be because someone told me your songs and ideas stink, so give up! If you let other people influence what dreams you pursue, don’t expect to be happy. You would not believe how happy I am when I’m writing a song or when someone says they really liked one of my songs! I may regret later writing this, but I really hope my children pursue something they love even if it seems impractical. We all know parents that have said,” study accounting, nursing, be a lawyer, doctor, etc…, there’s no money in that music, art, hobby, etc.. Thing”. I bet Paul McCartney would beg to differ!!!!
